LANDSCAPING
One of my passions is to create outside spaces that make people feel at home and where they can appreciate their gardens from both inside as well as outside. Ideally, there is a nearly seamless transition between the inside and outside world where colors, comfort, and style are all brought together cohesively. I love to make your dreams become reality by listening carefully to your needs and wants, understanding the long-term needs of your situation and translating it all into an action plan.

The owners were interested in having a softer, more natural look to the garden with grass, flowers, and tiles rather than brick, pebbles, and buxus. They needed to create stronger barriers to keep their dog in the garden as well as store their bikes and tools. Their goal was to have a garden that they could walk in bare-footed, be able to access different entertaining areas both safely and easily, and enjoy a wide variety of flowers throughout the year. The end result met all their needs and created a garden appreciated by neighbors and friends alike.
This young family wanted some help developing a year-round garden full of color. Each of the three concrete block planters which were already installed had very different lighting conditions even though they were only meters away from one another. The plants we chose would provide color as well as evergreen interest to help provide structure even during winter. The owner had a few requirements – a topiary tree, plants that would not attract a lot of bees, low-maintenance and a wide variety of colors. We achieved this by using lots of different leaf textures and colors as well as a rotating bloom schedule to ensure blooms throughout the seasons.
Rijpwetering House
This homeowner wanted to create more texture and colorful interest in what was a very flat and somewhat monotone yard. Many of the home’s views were blocked by hedges which created a sort of “dark tunnel effect” around the garden. The large garden utilized primarily 3 colors and really didn’t have any sort of plan to what was in it. The new owners were hoping to create more open and inviting gardens with more variety of plantings and distinct areas for entertaining – both comfortable seating as well as al fresco dining. The brick work which formed the original patios was largely in disrepair due to sinking stones and large tree roots and an entire re-work of the patio area was planned to create safer, more usable spaces. With so much of the garden visible from within the house via large windows, the views from inside the home looking out were also heavily considered when planning the exterior spaces.
