HOME RENOVATION
One of my passions is to create interior spaces that make people feel at home. From initial space planning of an entire home remodel to detail work of how to store kitchen supplies most effectively, I can help develop a plan that works for you. Working with color, texture and unusual decorations, I also really enjoy making spaces “one of a kind” that are catered to a family’s personality and interests. I understand the remodeling industry and the businesses that supply the contractors and can help you navigate them from a cost as well as style perspective. I enjoy researching and exploring new places to find unusual decorative treasures as well – from inexpensive stores to high-end antique galleries. I am adept and taking a concept and finding items that fit the established criteria within a given budget.

The homeowner began planning this remodel before the house purchase was even completed. They found the original kitchen small and dark and wanted a more “open plan” to fit their cooking style. By removing a wall between a small bedroom at the back of the house and the original kitchen at the front, they were able to create a large kitchen with an island which is open to both the front and the rear of the house, which made it much lighter and more functional. In addition to the kitchen work, a new laundry area was created, the main staircase was re-worked to be less steep, the master bathroom was completely re-done, a new guest toilet was re-worked, new oak flooring was laid throughout the house and re-painting of the entire interior of the home was completed. The work on this remodel began in April and was completed by July.
Redmond House (Union Hill)
This daylight basement, family home was remodeled from the ground up (literally) over a period of 3 years. Beginning with extensions on both ends of the home (a new garage on one end and office/ master bathroom on the other), the footprint was first extended and then the center of the home was re-worked. The kitchen moved locations, the previously small and choppy living spaces were combined, a new energy-efficient fireplace was installed as a centerpiece to the living room and a new roof structure was installed which created an open/ lofted/cabin-like feel. The south wall (looking out over the large garden and pond) was graced with floor to ceiling windows and doors which brought in tons of light and passive solar warmth. Utilizing light paint colors as well as natural varnished wood glu-lam and PSL (parastrandlumber) beams and fir trim on doors and windows, this house was both bright as well as cozy with a clear Scandinavian styling.

Redmond House (Flip)
This tri-level ranch house (purchased at a bankruptcy auction) was in awful shape. With food, trash and animal feces left in the home by the previous tenant, the house needed a complete overhaul. Garbage and carpet removal took place first, followed by the removal of the living room flooring (stained black and rotting by pet stains soaking through the carpet). On the main floor, the kitchen was opened up to the dining room with the removal of one wall, the kitchen and dining area glass doors were replaced, and the previously sunken living room and fireplace was brought up to match the height of the surrounding rooms which increased the functionality of all rooms. Additionally, trim on a central beam was re-cased and the railing on the stairs was re-done. On the lower level, the “family room” was cleaned up, glass patio doors were replaced, and the laundry room and bathroom were remodeled. On the upper floor, the bedrooms and hallways were re-carpeted, walls and ceilings were painted, a smaller bathroom was re-worked and the master bathroom was completely overhauled.
